Polish Eagle

A Polish eagle has been carved into one of the trees on the area just behind our campsite.

This eagle was carved by Polish airmen during WWII. Some of the Polish airmen were based on our campsite area but some flew from RAF Woodhall where Ostlers Plantation is situated just up the road from the campsite.

It is believed that at some point, the 64th and 65th battalions of the 16th Pomeranian Infantry Brigade plus their HQ were based onsite as well as elements of 2nd and 3rd Polish Parachute Brigade Battalions

If you’d like to find it, the what3words codes are: sues.butternut.outright or the other one we have been given is: elbowing.fountain.science

The photo below is 5th Boston who recently found the carving during their summer camp. You can just make out the carving behind the scouts.
